Rumormill: Harley-Davidson is considering moving away from Milwaukee
Say it is not so! How can you Harley-Davidson main base of production to be anywhere but Milwaukee, Wisconsin? It would be like without the Toledo Jeep (or Tony Packo in ), Detroit without General Motors . Gotham without Batman. In other words, unthinkable!
But theyre here in the Motor Company reporting that, taking into account its capacity in its activities both in Milwaukee and the propulsion system in its Tomahawk, Wisconsin plant. Why? Simple: money. According to HD, it could save millions of dollars a year, changing locations due to the reduction of costs associated with the employment contract, and flexibility planning. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, although the commitment to do everything necessary to maintain the right of where its at Harley.
Of course, it seems more likely that the Harley-Davidson uses these rumors as a tactic to the upper hand in the upcoming negotiations of trade unions. Nevertheless, as brand experiences much on line, everything seems possible until the(very remote, wed probably) the threat, HD motorcycles can be enforced abroad. Stay tuned.
